The OZ 2.0 map

Governors submitted OZ 2.0 nominations to Treasury by September 28, 2026. Treasury is expected to certify the new map late in 2026, and the new zones take effect January 1, 2027.

Under IRS Notice 2026-40, property bought after December 31, 2026 generally has to be in a newly designated zone to qualify. Property bought before then in an original zone can keep qualifying through 2047, subject to the other rules.
