- How Form 7004 works
- No signature. Filing it properly by the return’s due date gives the maximum extension automatically; the IRS writes only if it is denied. E-file through Modernized e-File or mail the paper form. Instructions for Form 7004 (Rev. December 2025)
- Where to file on paper
- Forms 1065, 1120 and 1120-S from the eastern group of states with total assets under $10 million go to Kansas City, MO 64999-0019; everything else from the United States goes to Ogden, UT 84201-0045, and foreign filers to P.O. Box 409101, Ogden, UT 84409. The plan picks the address from the business’s state and assets. irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-form-7004 (updated August 27, 2026)
- Schedule K-1 timing
- A partnership must furnish K-1s by the day its return is due, including extensions: March 15, 2027, or September 15, 2027 if extended. Each K-1 furnished late or wrong is $340 for 2027 due dates. Reg. §1.6031(b)-1T(b); IRC §6722; Rev. Proc. 2025-32 §4.58
